He was disgraced by the demon king and was about to loose his life in the war, highly disturbed by the sequence of events going on there, she went to god Vishnu. Concerned with her problems god Vishnu gave her a holy thread. Sachi tied that thread to Indra and it not only saved him from demon Bali but also attained victory in the war. With this Indra also recovered Amravati his kingdom. The huge victory of Indra inspired the protective holy thread which was later recognized as rakhi.


Another great story of Raksha Bandhan is that of Krishna and Draupadi. While beheading Sishupal in a war Krishna cut his finger. To provide him a first aid Draupadi tore a peace of her saree and bandaged Krishna’s wound by that. Krishna was overwhelmed by her dedication and promised to protect her and repay for what she has done for him. At the time when Draupadi was trapped by Kaurav’s she screamed for protection from Krishna. Lord Krishna protected her and this tangled both of them in the relation of love, affection and brotherhood.
